Technological Features of the Tyre
The model received a classic symmetrical directional pattern, which provides maximum performance on snow and ice crust. The task of Korean tyre makers was to create the friction winter tyres Nexen Winguard Snow G WH2, which will be a confident competition to studded tyres.
The directional symmetrical tread of the tyre is characterised by a large number of details that enhance the efficiency when driving in warm winter conditions, on snow and ice crust. Three wide channels and a network of transversal grooves allow for a successful evacuation of mud and slush from the contact patch. Even at high speeds, the dense lamellisation prevents skidding in corners.
The advantage of friction rubber is its acoustic comfort on dry roads and the absence of vibrations which is typically caused by studs when travelling.
The Winguard Snow G WH2 rubber consists of chemical elements selected specifically for efficient winter performance.
Nexen Winguard Snow G WH2 friction tyre is suitable for use on passenger cars with a diameter of 13 to 17 inches.
EU Tyre Label and Efficiency Classes
The European Union has introduced the EU Tyre Label by Regulation (No. 1222/2009) identically and bindingly for all EU member states. It applies to passenger car tyres, light commercial vehicle tyres and heavy commercial vehicle tyres produced after 01.07.2012.
Three different areas are tested: rolling resistance, wet grip and the rolling noise the tyre makes on the road.
The following are not affected by the EU Tyre Label: retreaded tyres, professional off-road tyres, racing tyres, tyres with additional devices to improve traction such as spiked tyres, T-type emergency tyres, special tyres for fitting to vehicles first registered before 1 October 1990, tyres with a maximum authorised speed of 80 km/h, tyres for rims with a nominal diameter of 254 mm or less or 635 mm or more.
With this regulation, the European Union is pursuing the goal of promoting economic and ecological efficiency in road traffic as well as increasing road safety on the one hand, and on the other hand, granting consumers more product transparency and at the same time serving as an active decision-making aid.
Already during the incorporation, experts criticise the fact that the EU Tyre Label unfortunately only shows a few product characteristics. Apart from rolling resistance, wet grip and rolling noise, which are the main focus of EU tyre labelling, tyres have much more important and safety-relevant product characteristics, such as aquaplaning properties, driving stability, service life, braking properties on dry and wet roads, behaviour in wintry conditions, etc.
Tyre manufacturers point out that test results from various institutions and journals remain an important information medium for the end consumer. These tests usually focus on further safety-relevant product characteristics besides the EU standard qualifications for tyre labelling, which are always important for the final customer.

11.04.2022 from KS Fuel economy and comfort seem fine, grip on wet roads is pretty terrible, wheelspin going uphill and lift-off oversteer are something I’ve never experienced in this car in 200km of ownership until I fitted these tyres. Will be going back to Blizzaks for winter.
29.04.2020 from Mark We purchased these tyres for use in the ski season in the alps. They were excellent, the car gripped and stopped well. I never had to use snow chains. I would buy them again but I have no points of reference as to how they compare against other tyres.
10.05.2019 from Matt Henson I was surprised how good these tyres are, winter tyres are never supreme performers in the wet and when they let go, you do notice! Tread ware is awesome, they are lasting a lot longer than summer tyres (perhaps because you can't push them as hard and a standard D5 can dump too much power on the front wheels) They are quiet but essentially they work well on snow and ice. Recommended
