Almost 500,000 VW Lupos were sold between 1998 and 2005. Identical to the Seat Arosa and available only in a three-door version, it was first produced in Wolfsburg and later in Brussels. It was replaced by the VW Fox, which was known as Lupo in Brazil and Mexico. Of particular note was the version of the compact Lupo known as the 3L TDI, the first serial model worldwide with a factory-set average fuel consumption of less than three litres.
