Built since 2002, the RS6 is the A6 model with the highest engine performance. The first generation was produced as a notchback and estate by quatto GmbH and fitted as standard with all-wheel drive. The V8 turbo motors of the first RS6 generation supplied an impressive 450 HP; there was also a limited-edition RS6 Plus with 480 HP that was available only as an estate. When the first RS6 series disappeared from the market in 2004, fans has to wait four years before its successor arrived, with a 580 HP biturbo engine and comfortable 0-60 acceleration in under 5 seconds. While the top speed was regulated at 250km/155mph, those willing to splash a little more cash could get themselves an RS6 (top speed regulted at 280km/450mph) or an RS6 Plus (top speeed more than 300km/483mph) - though the 14 litre average combined fuel consumption would certainly no longer apply at such velocities. While the third RS6 generation - available since 2013 - has a maximum of just 560 HP, it consumes less, accelerates more quickly and has adhered to the Euro 6 emission standard since autumn 2014.
