Available since 1999, the RS4 is the A4 model boasting the highest engine performance and permanent all-wheel drive. The first generation - which replaced the S2 - existed exclusively in the form of an estate with 380 HP biturbo motor; approximately 6,000 units were completed during the two years it was built. The second series was available as a limousine and a cabriolet, though the same engine was used for all variants: a 420 HP V8 with 0 to 60 acceleration in under 5 seconds.

The extra cash gets you 450 HP and the opportunity, for a surcharge, to increase the top speed of the engine - regualted at 250km/155mph - to 280km/450mph (though the 11-litre combined average fuel consumption will certainly no longer apply if you choose to do so).
