Tractor Tyres: Continental Presents Soil-Friendly Standard Tyre Tractor70

06/06/18

Standard tyre featuring new bead and N.flex technology

Manufactured in Portugal

65″ tractor and combine harvester tyres to be added to the portfolio in the summer

Last fall, Continental launched itself back into the agricultural tyre business. At Tyre Cologne, the technology company will be showcasing the standard tyre Tractor70.

Tractor70: Wide tyre for maximum soil-friendliness and traction

Maximum traction with minimal impact on the soil: These are the characteristics of the wide Tractor70, which offers a high degree of robustness and durability. It features brand-new bead technology and is made from an innovative nylon material patented under the name N.flex. The tyre bears the "Engineered for Efficiency" seal of approval, meaning that it has been systematically designed to increase the performance of the agricultural machinery and the quality of its work while minimizing the resources used. The new bead technology means that the tyre can be used with much reduced air pressure even when the tractor is carrying heavy loads, a property achieved thanks to the larger contact surface. Paired with the rounded-off tread lug edges of the Tractor70, this results in less soil compaction and ensures minimal impact on the soil and crops. The smooth, rounded-off space between the tread lugs also stops soil and dirt from becoming caught in the tyre tread. These valuable self-cleaning properties along with the wide tyre tread ensure maximum traction and, in turn, greater productivity in the field.

Manufactured in Lousado, Portugal, with state-of-the-art manufacturing technology

After a 14-year absence from the agricultural tyre business, Continental has returned with new production capacities. The agricultural tyres are manufactured using Continental's own production technology in Lousado in Portugal. The state-of-the-art production location was constructed in less than two years at a cost of €49.9 million and opened in fall 2017. It is situated next to the car tyre plant that counts among the most efficient plants run by the Continental corporation. As part of the new agricultural tyre manufacturing location, Continental has also constructed a test and development center in which the agricultural tyres are tested for quality and optimized accordingly.

Expansion of the portfolio in summer 2018

Continental plans to expand its agricultural tyre portfolio to include around 100 different sizes by 2019. The TractorMaster with a 65″ cross-section and the first CombineMaster in size 800/65R32 178A8 for combine harvesters and shredders will be available as early as the summer of this year.
