Heidenau isn't just a town in the Ore Mountains - it's also widely known as a manufacturer of tyres for two-wheeled vehicles. A number of the GDR's best-known vehicles - including Simson mopeds and the Trabant - relied on Heidenau tyres to get around. While the firm still produces tyres for these makes today, it now specialises in the niche production of winter tyres for motorcycles and mopeds, offering tyres for cross bikes and Enduros as well as for street bikes. The range includes a total of around 500 products. Heidenau winter tyres such as the all-terrain K37 Silica for Winter are equally as popular as the touring tyre K65, which is sold in different widths for front and back tyres. Heidenau tyres aren't just for two-wheelers - the company also makes tyres for industrial and agricultural vehicles, karts and classic cars as well as producing inner tubes and tyres for the racetrack. However, its main focus is on fast, high-displacement bikes. The low-profile Slick is ideal for racing use and is designed to enable short warm-up times and fast laps, while the prominent tread block of the K42 has been crafted to ensure plenty of grip both on and off the road. The K70 motocross tyre with self-cleaning tread is a great option for deep terrain.
