The Opel Meriva, which has been built since 2003 was originally a small MPV, in the meantime, however, its is so large that it is classed as a compact MPV. The first generation was developed on the basis of the Opel Corsa C and built in Spain and Brazil. In 2006 there was a facelift in which, above all, the front was modified. The Meriva was regarded as a reliable vehicle with few problems and was offered in many trims. The spectrum of engines went from diesel engine with 75 bhp up to the 1.6 Turbo with 180 bhp which, however, was only fitted into the Opel Meriva OPC which was available from 2006 to 2011. This Meriva generation offered a choice between a five-speed or six-speed gearbox. As an alternative some engines could be combined with the five-speed Easytronic. In 2010 the Opel Meriva B came on the market - the second generation of the compact MPV. It was no longer based on the Corsa but on the Astra and Zafira which led to larger dimensions. The Meriva B has so-called suicide or portal doors. These are doors that are not hinged at the B column but at the C column instead. The B column was, however, kept.
