In 1991 the Opel Astra replaced the Kadett and since then has been one of the best selling cars in the compact class. The first generation was called the Astra F (as successor to the Kadett E) and was built until 1998. The models sold in this country rolled from the line in Poland. Initially the Astra was introduced with three and five doors, a few months later the Estate followed and in 1992 the four door notch-back came on the market. The cabriolet was available from 1993 onwards. This generation was regarded as failure prone and not very reliable. Rust, defect alternators or broken fan-belts often made visits to garages necessary. In 1998 the Astra G came on the market. It could now be ordered as a coupé and was offered in many different trims. The Astra OPC with 160 bhp or about 200 bhp was also popular. The third Astra generation was available in Germany between 2004 and 2010. Elsewhere the Astra H is still being sold as a new car. Unfortunately the coupé is no longer available, instead there is an OPC version with 240 bhp and 18 or 19 inch wheels. The right Opel Astra tyres can be found in our online shop.
