With a number of improvements on its high-selling predecessor model, the Goodyear Ultra Grip 9 is one of the tyres that will set the standard for safety in the coming winter season. Pressure distribution over the road contact area has been optimised to create more comfortable driving characteristics. The tyre also makes use of Goodyear's 3D BIS technology, with tread blocks of varying widths located in the centre of the tyre. When these tread blocks come into contact with the road, the sipes lock tightly, increasing block stiffness to ensure sufficient traction and short braking distances on snowy ground. The hydrodynamic nature of the sipes minimises the risk of hydroplaning and increases the grip of the tyre on slush - thanks to the directional V-TRED profile, via which water is efficiently diverted.
The Goodyear Ultra Grip 9 is also a reliable companion in dry conditions, since handling and steering response leave little room for improvement. Even at high speeds, the tyre has good directional stability and creates the feel of a safe drive. All in all, the Ultra Grip 9 is a balanced winter tyre with an excellent price-performance ratio.
With just under 70 decibels of external noise, this winter tyre is fairly average in terms of its rolling noise. Other values represented on the EU tyre label also fall into category C. The Goodyear Ultra Grip 9 is available in a range of sizes, making it compatible for a variety of vehicle classes. The optimised tread wear indicator is a further advantage.
