The Volkswagen Polo has been built since 1975. The first generation was offered with three doors until 1981. The notch-back version, available since 1977, is named Derby. The Polo Basis as the entry model had very little standard equipment but there were enough better equipped alternatives, including the Polo GTS. The first Polo generation was followed by the Polo II which was on the market until 1994 and could initially only be bought as three door hatchback. At first its motorisations were up to 60 bhp, later up to 115 bhp. It was very popular and consequently available for a long time. The third generation Polo could finally be ordered with five doors. There was a choice of a five-speed gearbox or a four-speed automatic combined with engines with up to 125 bhp. Starting 1997 the Volkswagen Polo was available as an estate for the first time. In the same year it was awarded three stars in the Euro NCAP-crashtest three years later it was four stars. The Polo IV was built from 2001 to 2009, whereby there was a facelift in 2005. It was larger than its predecessor - about the same size as the Golf II built from 1983 till 1992. When the rear seat bench was folded down more than 1000 litres of luggage space were available. In 2003 the Polo Special with 16 inch wheels was launched - we offer you the right Volkswagen Polo tyres in our online shop.
