The Audi TT belongs the best known and most popular sports cars on the German market. It has been built since 1998 and is available as a roadster and as a coupé. Several years before the introduction to the market, development was started in California and a study could be seen on the IAA in 1995. The echo from visitors and from the press was so overwhelming that Audi started to manufacture the TT almost unchanged. Initially it was offered as a coupé with motorisation of 180 and 225 bhp. A year later the roadster followed. The Audi TT became sadly famous as a result of fatalities in accidents. In fast corners the TT was more difficult to control than comparable vehicles and over-steered strongly. Audi reacted and retrofitted a spoiler that improved the driving stability. At an extra charge ESP could be also ordered. In the meantime these problems are history and since 2006 the second generation is on the market.
